Arrival at Barkot / Janki Chatti
Arrive at Barkot or Janki Chatti, the base point for the Yamunotri trek. The route offers picturesque views of lush valleys and rivers. Settle into your accommodation and take rest. If you arrive early, you can take a peaceful evening walk to enjoy the natural beauty around.
Trek to Yamunotri Temple
Begin your day early and start the trek from Janki Chatti to Yamunotri Temple. The 6 km trail winds through beautiful forest paths and mountain scenery. On reaching the temple, take darshan of Goddess Yamuna and visit the nearby Surya Kund. After spending some time there, return to Janki Chatti.
Return to Barkot and Rest
After a spiritually fulfilling visit to Yamunotri, make your way back to Barkot. The journey back is relaxing with scenic halts along the way. Reach your stay and unwind. You can explore the quiet local surroundings, interact with locals, or simply rest after the day’s travel.
Departure from Barkot
After breakfast, begin your return journey. The blessings of Maa Yamuna and the fresh mountain air will stay with you long after the trip. This yatra is not just a visit to a temple, but a peaceful retreat into the heart of the Himalayas.

Weather Conditions
- Cold Weather – Yamunotri is located in the Garhwal Himalayas and remains cool to cold throughout the year, especially in the early mornings and late evenings.
- Snowfall – Snowfall may occur in early May and after mid-October, particularly at higher altitudes near Yamunotri Temple. The area remains snow-covered in winter.
- Oxygen Levels – Yamunotri is at an altitude of about 3,293 meters. While it's not as high as Kedarnath, some travelers may still experience breathing discomfort. Carry necessary medication if you have any respiratory condition.
- Warm Clothes Needed – Visitors should carry heavy woolen clothes, jackets, thermal wear, gloves, woolen caps, and socks to stay warm and comfortable during the journey.
- Sudden Weather Changes – Weather in Yamunotri can change without warning. Even in summer, you may face cold winds, light snowfall, or rain showers, especially during the trek from Janki Chatti.
Road Conditions
- Mountain Roads – The road to Yamunotri includes steep and narrow mountain stretches. Drive with caution, especially near Barkot and Janki Chatti, where the roads have sharp turns and hilly terrain.
- Landslide Zones – During the monsoon season (July–August), the route is prone to landslides and temporary road closures. Travel during this time is not advisable.
- Road Accessibility – Roads to Yamunotri generally open in late April or early May after the snow clears and remain accessible until early November. After this, the route is closed due to heavy snowfall.
- Last Motorable Point – The last point accessible by vehicle is Janki Chatti. From there, a 6 km trek (on foot, pony, or doli) is required to reach Yamunotri Temple.
- Condition in Summer & Autumn – From May to June and September to mid-October, the roads are mostly in good condition. These months are ideal for travel, as the weather is clear and road conditions are stable.

- Carry valid ID like Aadhar Card, Voter ID, or Passport.
- Government registration is mandatory before starting the yatra.
- Carry your regular medicines and a small first aid box.
- Wear good-quality trekking shoes or sports shoes for long walking and climbing.
- Keep a water bottle, dry fruits, or light snacks during travel and trek.
- Carry some cash, as ATMs are not available in all areas. Card payment may not work in remote places.
- Power cuts are common in some areas. Carry a torch and power bank for mobile.
- You can take travel or health insurance for extra safety.

- Hotels and vehicles will be provided as per availability and the package. Room heaters may cost extra.
- If included, helicopter service is subject to weather and availability. If canceled, refund is as per helicopter company policy.
- Respect local customs, temple rules, and government guidelines.
- Travel or health insurance is not included unless clearly mentioned.
- Carry original ID (Aadhar, Voter ID, etc.) during the trip.
- Prices may change without notice due to fuel costs, taxes, or hotel rate changes.

- If you cancel 15 to 30 days before the trip – 50% refund of the total package amount. Any advance booking charges (flights, hotels, etc.) are non-refundable.
- If you cancel less than 15 days before the journey – No refund. Also, no refund for: No-shows (you don’t join the trip), Leaving trip in between, Unused services (meals, hotel, etc.)
