Char Dham Yatra from Your City

The Char Dham circuit itself (Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath) always starts and ends in Haridwar, Rishikesh or Dehradun. What changes from city to city is how you get there, how many days the round trip takes, and when to go. Pick your city for a guide written for it.

Haridwar

The best gateway by rail and road. Most trains from North, West and East India terminate here or in nearby Rishikesh.

Dehradun (Jolly Grant airport)

The best gateway by air. The airport is 20–35 km from Rishikesh and Haridwar, so flying in costs you no extra transfer day.

Rishikesh

A calmer place for the first night, and the closest start for the Badrinath and Kedarnath highways.

From North India

Close enough to drive. Most yatris reach Haridwar the same day by road, train or bus, and the whole trip fits in 10–12 days.

From West India

Fly to Dehradun to save days, or take one of the direct trains (Yoga Express from Ahmedabad, Dehradun Express from Mumbai and Surat).

From South India

Flying to Dehradun is the practical choice. Trains to Delhi add 3–5 days to the round trip.

From East India

Direct trains from Howrah to Haridwar, or a flight to Dehradun. Plan October trips around Durga Puja and Kedarnath's closing date.
