Last updated: 23 October 2026. The 2027 helicopter fares and booking dates have not been announced yet. The fares below are the 2026 fares as reported. We will update this guide as soon as UCADA and IRCTC publish the 2027 schedule.
Kedarnath helicopter tickets are sold only on the official IRCTC Heliyatra portal (heliyatra.irctc.co.in). Before you can book, every passenger needs a valid Char Dham Yatra registration. In 2026, a round trip to Kedarnath cost roughly ₹6,000 from Sersi, ₹9,700 from Phata and ₹12,200 from Guptkashi per person, plus GST and fees. This guide covers the fares, the three helipads, the booking steps, the rules, refunds and what to do if tickets sell out.
Kedarnath Helicopter Booking: Quick Summary

Registration needed: Yes. Char Dham Yatra registration is mandatory before booking
Helipads: Sersi (Sirsi), Phata and Guptkashi
2026 round-trip fare: about ₹6,086 to ₹12,154 per person, before GST and fees
Flight time: roughly 7 to 17 minutes one way, depending on the helipad
Season: from the day the temple opens (around April–May) until it closes (around October–November), with few or no flights in the monsoon
Regulator: Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA)

Kedarnath Helicopter Price 2026 (2027 Fares Not Yet Announced)
UCADA fixes the fare for each helipad, and every operator on that route charges the same price. These are the 2026 one-way fares per person as reported in March 2026. The round-trip fare is double the one-way fare.
Sersi to Kedarnath: ₹3,043 one way, ₹6,086 round trip
Phata to Kedarnath: ₹4,840 one way, ₹9,680 round trip
Guptkashi to Kedarnath: ₹6,077 one way, ₹12,154 round trip
GST and the IRCTC convenience fee are added at checkout, so your final payment will be a little higher than these figures. VERIFY: once the 2027 fares are out, update the figures above and the Last updated date.
Why do other websites show different prices? Many blogs mix up one-way and round-trip fares, or show fares from older seasons. Always trust the fare displayed on the IRCTC Heliyatra portal at the time of booking.
Sersi vs Phata vs Guptkashi: Which Helipad Should You Choose
All three helipads lie on the Rudraprayag–Gaurikund road in the Kedar valley. Guptkashi is the farthest from Kedarnath, and Sersi is the closest.
Sersi (Sirsi) Helipad
Location: a short drive before Sonprayag, the closest helipad to Kedarnath
Flight time: about 7–8 minutes
2026 round trip: ₹6,086
Operators (2026): Kestrel Aviation, Arrow Aircraft
Best for: the lowest fare. This route also sells out the fastest
Phata Helipad
Location: between Guptkashi and Sonprayag, with many hotels and homestays nearby
Flight time: about 10 minutes
2026 round trip: ₹9,680
Operators (2026): Pawan Hans, Thumby Aviation, Global Vectra Helicorp, Himalayan Heli Services
Best for: the most flights and seats on the route, so it is easier to get a ticket
Guptkashi Helipad
Location: Guptkashi town, the biggest base in the valley for hotels, food and transport
Flight time: about 15–17 minutes
2026 round trip: ₹12,154
Operators (2026): Aryan Aviation, Trans Bharat Aviation
Best for: families and senior citizens who want to stay in a comfortable town
Our tip: book a hotel near your helipad for the night before the flight. Morning reporting times are strict, and traffic jams near Sonprayag are common in peak season. ADD: your own hotel suggestion near each helipad, or a link to /hotels.
Is There a Helicopter From Gaurikund to Kedarnath?
No. There is no shuttle helicopter from Gaurikund to Kedarnath. The nearest helipad to Gaurikund is Sersi, a short drive away, followed by Phata and Guptkashi. From Gaurikund, you can walk the trek of about 16 km to Kedarnath, or hire a pony, palki or pithu. If you see a website selling "Gaurikund helicopter tickets", treat it as a scam.
When Will Kedarnath Helicopter Booking 2027 Open
The dates for 2027 have not been announced yet. Based on the last few seasons, this is the usual sequence:
Mahashivratri (Feb–Mar 2027): the Kedarnath kapat opening date is announced at the Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath.
February–March: Char Dham Yatra registration opens on the Uttarakhand Tourism portal.
March–April: UCADA announces the helipads, operators and fares for the season.
A few weeks before the temple opens: IRCTC opens the first booking window, usually for the first few weeks of the yatra.
Through the season: later windows open in phases, including one for the post-monsoon months of September and October.
Seats for May, June and early October usually sell out within hours of a window opening. Follow official announcements from UCADA and IRCTC, and be ready with your registration number before the window opens. VERIFY: add the exact 2027 dates here once they are announced.
How to Book Kedarnath Helicopter Tickets on IRCTC Heliyatra
Complete your Char Dham Yatra registration on registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in or the Tourist Care Uttarakhand app, and note your registration number. Our Char Dham registration guide explains each step.
Open heliyatra.irctc.co.in and sign up with your mobile number and email ID.
Log in when the booking window opens for your travel dates.
Enter your yatra registration number. The portal fetches the details of the pilgrims in that registration.
Select the helipad (Sersi, Phata or Guptkashi), the travel date and an available time slot.
Select the passengers and check that each name and age matches their ID card exactly.
Pay online with UPI, a debit or credit card, or net banking.
Download the e-ticket and keep a printout and a copy on your phone. You will need it at the helipad.
Tips for booking day: log in 10–15 minutes before the window opens, keep your payment method ready, and use a fast internet connection. Book from a single device, because opening the same account on several devices can log you out.
VERIFY on the IRCTC FAQ page: the number of tickets allowed per user ID and the maximum passengers per ticket. In 2026 this was reported as 2 tickets per user ID and up to 6 passengers per ticket.
Kedarnath Helicopter Rules: Weight, ID and Reporting
ID proof: carry the same original photo ID (Aadhaar, passport, voter ID and so on) that you used for registration and booking.
Weight limit: passengers are weighed at the helipad. In 2026, an extra charge reportedly applied above about 80 kg per passenger. VERIFY the 2027 limit and charge.
Luggage: only a small bag is allowed. Leave heavy luggage at your hotel.
Reporting time: reach the helipad well before the reporting time printed on your ticket. Late arrivals can lose their seat without a refund.
Children: check the child and infant rules on the portal before booking. Every passenger needs to be included in the yatra registration.
Health: Kedarnath is at about 3,583 m. Pilgrims with heart or breathing problems should consult a doctor before flying straight to that altitude.
Kedarnath Helicopter Cancellation and Refund Rules
Cancelled due to weather or by the operator: the fare is refunded to your original payment method. Convenience fees may not be refunded.
Cancelled by you: the refund depends on how many days before the flight you cancel. Cancelling closer to the date gets a smaller refund.
Missed reporting time: usually no refund.
VERIFY: copy the exact 2027 cancellation slabs and refund timelines from the IRCTC terms page.
Weather in the Kedar valley changes quickly. Morning flights are the most reliable, and flights are often put on hold after rain, fog or low cloud. Keep a buffer day in your plan.
How to Avoid Fake Kedarnath Helicopter Booking Websites
Every season, police and IRCTC warn pilgrims about fake helicopter booking websites, social media pages and WhatsApp numbers. Follow these rules:
Book only on heliyatra.irctc.co.in, and type the address yourself instead of clicking an ad.
Never pay a stranger through UPI, a QR code or a bank transfer for a "confirmed" helicopter seat.
Be careful with offers of "VIP quota", "guaranteed seats" or "Gaurikund helicopter".
A genuine ticket always comes with an IRCTC booking ID, linked to your yatra registration.
If you are cheated, report it right away at cybercrime.gov.in or call 1930.
Didn't Get a Helicopter Ticket? Your Options
Trek: the 16 km trek from Gaurikund is well maintained. Most fit pilgrims complete it in 6–8 hours one way.
Pony, palki or pithu: available at Gaurikund at fixed government rates for pilgrims who cannot walk the full trek.
Try the next window: new booking windows open through the season, so check again for later dates.
Plan with a tour package: a planned Kedarnath tour package handles your hotels, cab, registration help and backup plans, so a missed helicopter seat does not ruin your trip.
Tips From Our Kedarnath Yatris
ADD YOUR OWN EXPERIENCE HERE. This is the section that sets the page apart from every other website. Write 3–5 real points, for example: the queue at the Phata helipad, how long the darshan took on a same-day return, the best time slot, what our senior citizen yatris found difficult, and so on. Add 1–2 of your own photos with alt text.
