Gangotri Dham Yatra is a sacred pilgrimage to the origin of River Ganga, located in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand. Day 1

Arrival at Uttarkashi

Arrive in Uttarkashi, a quiet town known for its temples and river views. Settle in and spend the day acclimatizing. You can visit the famous Kashi Vishwanath Temple in the evening. The atmosphere is peaceful, and the locals are warm and welcoming, perfect for starting a spiritual journey.

Day 2

Uttarkashi to Gangotri

Start your journey early towards Gangotri, enjoying stunning views of the Bhagirathi river and surrounding valleys. On reaching Gangotri, visit the sacred Gangotri Temple, dedicated to Goddess Ganga. Take some time to sit by the river and soak in the calm and divinity of this holy place.

Day 3

Gangotri to Uttarkashi

After morning darshan and a peaceful walk near the temple area, begin your return to Uttarkashi. The drive back offers beautiful views of the Himalayan landscape. Reach Uttarkashi by evening and relax at your stay. You can spend some time exploring the local markets or simply resting.

Day 4

Departure from Uttarkashi

Begin your return journey with a heart full of blessings from Maa Ganga. You may stop at scenic points or temples on the way, depending on your route. This yatra leaves you refreshed, spiritually connected, and surrounded by memories of the majestic Himalayas.

Things to Know

Weather Conditions

  • Cold Weather – Gangotri is situated in the high Himalayas, so it remains cold throughout the year, especially during mornings and nights.
  • Snowfall – Early May and after mid-October, snowfall is common in and around Gangotri. The region is snow-covered during winter.
  • Warm Clothes Needed – Always carry heavy woolen clothes, jackets, gloves, thermal wear, woolen caps, and socks to protect yourself from the cold.
  • Oxygen Levels – Gangotri is located at an altitude of around 3,415 meters, which may cause breathing difficulty for some visitors. It’s advisable to carry personal medicines if you have asthma or other respiratory conditions.
  • Sudden Weather Changes – The weather in Gangotri can change quickly. Even during summer, you may face unexpected rain, snowfall, or cold winds.

Road Conditions

  • Mountain Roads – The route to Gangotri involves steep, narrow, and winding mountain roads. Drive cautiously, especially in hilly terrain with sharp turns.
  • Landslide Zones – During the monsoon season (July–August), the area is prone to landslides and road blockages. Travel during this time is not recommended.
  • Road Accessibility – Roads to Gangotri generally open in late April or early May, when the snow is cleared, and remain open until early November. Beyond this, roads become inaccessible due to snowfall.
  • Last Motorable Point – You can reach Gangotri Temple directly by vehicle, as the road goes right up to the temple premises. No trekking is required, unlike Kedarnath.
  • Condition in Summer & Autumn – From May to June and September to mid-October, the roads are mostly clear, and driving conditions are manageable with proper vehicles.

Requirements

  • Carry valid ID like Aadhar Card, Voter ID, or Passport.
  • Government registration is mandatory before starting the yatra.
  • Carry your regular medicines and a small first aid box.
  • Wear good-quality trekking shoes or sports shoes for long walking and climbing.
  • Keep a water bottle, dry fruits, or light snacks during travel and trek.
  • Carry some cash, as ATMs are not available in all areas. Card payment may not work in remote places.
  • Power cuts are common in some areas. Carry a torch and power bank for mobile.
  • You can take travel or health insurance for extra safety.

Terms & Conditions

  • Booking will be confirmed only after advance payment.
  • The advance paid is non-refundable in case of cancellation.
  • The full payment must be made before the start of the trip.
  • No refund will be given if you miss or do not use any part of the tour (hotel, meals, etc.).
  • The company is not responsible for delays or changes in the itinerary due to weather, landslides, or roadblocks.
  • You are responsible for your own health. Carry required medicines and stay fit.
  • Hotels and vehicles will be provided as per availability and the package. Room heaters may cost extra.
  • If included, helicopter service is subject to weather and availability. If canceled, refund is as per helicopter company policy.
  • Respect local customs, temple rules, and government guidelines.
  • Travel or health insurance is not included unless clearly mentioned.
  • Carry original ID (Aadhar, Voter ID, etc.) during the trip.
  • Prices may change without notice due to fuel costs, taxes, or hotel rate changes.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

Cancellation Policy

  • If you cancel before 30 days of the journey – 100% refund (excluding booking/transaction charges). You must inform in writing (email/message) to confirm cancellation.
  • If you cancel 15 to 30 days before the trip – 50% refund of the total package amount. Any advance booking charges (flights, hotels, etc.) are non-refundable.
  • If you cancel less than 15 days before the journey – No refund. Also, no refund for: No-shows (you don’t join the trip), Leaving trip in between, Unused services (meals, hotel, etc.)

Refund Policy

  • Processing Time: Processing Time: Refunds will be processed within 7–10 working days after cancellation is confirmed. Delays may occur due to bank processing time or third-party approvals (like hotels or transport).
